Without which it would be a red state.
That is the pattern for many states, isn't it? Although for Jersey it's more like some small cities and a suburban corridor between Philly and NYC that makes the state blue.
I don't know what it is about cities. I guess they make it easier to implement collectivism because they serve as a hive. If only we could wall off the cities...
