But perhaps those waiting for an October surprise shouldnt lose all hope just yet. Or at least, that was the message from Assange, who spoke via video link from the Ecuadoran embassy in London, where hes been holed up for the past four years as Swedish authorities seek his extradition on sexual assault charges.
He promised to reveal documents every week for the next 10. He said some will have a direct bearing on the U.S. election.
We think theyre significant, he coyly informed his worldwide audience.
But what will they reveal? And when will they come? Assange wouldnt say.
The WP is a bit premature in its gloating. Assange will deliver. The article fails to portray what Assange actually said. Assange said he will release all the election material prior to November 8 and that the first release will take place this week. Let's see what happens between now and Sunday.
It is possible that Assange is smart enough to realize that the Hurricane Mathew is likely to dominate the news cycle for the next couple of days. Maybe holding on to what they have got until this dies down is just a good idea. I like that WikiLeaks has said they are planning on trickling this out for maximum effect over the next ten weeks.
