I have created a conservative leaning website. After submitting the site to Google and Bing, I found that my site's subtitle, "Not for Liberals" (when put in quotes) comes up number 2 in the Bing listing, but #11 on Google.
I have not named my site because, although I appreciated any visitors, this is not for click-bait.
Just passing Google's seemingly not conservative bent.
Google SEO is remarkably different than Bing. I never get results that are “as good” as your results.
Unless Adwords is applied, and then I pay like $20 per click for Google results.
So I’m surprised you got a #11 listing. Must be a complete site with link-backs, context, marketing and social media applied.
I think it is only because the subtitle search is in quotes
Thank you Madison, Wisconsin
Yeah, I think you’re right.
I think

is the site the author is talking about.

It may take more time for Google to pick up your site more prominently.
If your site is really new, you can probably expect to drop below #11 in Google within the next 3 months or less. Google gives most new sites a sort of honeymoon period with higher ranking to see how they perform.
As Celerity indicated, Google SEO is very different from Bing. Rankings from one search engine to the next vary widely for a number of reasons.
Google’s ranking algorithm is not simply based on keyword relevance, that is only a part of it. If your site has little traffic, or no links to it from other high-traffic sites, for example, you will get dinged in the rankings.
God knows that Google is leftist. But that might not be what’s going on here.
Bing is more concerned with how well the search term describes the page than Google is. Google is more concerned with how much does traffic flow to your site than Bing is.
Thank you. That makes sense.
Google also takes into consideration the quality of the HTML code on the page. A lot of factors play into this: Does the page have proper closing tags? They even look at the amount of code on the page before you get to the main content. (Too many photos or ads on top and you are down-ranked a little.)
A few months ago they started penalizing the rank of any site that is not designed to work well on mobile phones. It is a technique called “responsive design.” It means that the website adapts to different sizes of screens, from phones to large desktop monitors.
Right now they are only penalizing the ranking of non-responsive websites. They have announced, though, that in the future websites that are not responsive won’t even show up in Google searches from phones. If your site isn’t adaptive to a phone, a phone user won’t ever see your site.
There are websites that sell responsive templates for about $20. Find a design you think looks nice and go with it. Make sure it says something about being “responsive” and adapts to mobile phones.
Hope this helps!
In addition to Google dinging non-mobile friendly sites, they also are rumoured to be dinging sites with a low PageSpeed Insights rank.
For example, they expect a site to download and show a visible page within 3 seconds. Responsive websites tend to download tons of CSS and JavaScript so it can be tricky to juggle both requirements to get the coveted ‘green’ rating in PageSpeen Insights.
Thank you
Google will also penalize you for not having much content on each page. Ideally you want at least 300 words on each page.
Look into WordPress. They have a free platform with responsive design (mobile friendly) as suggested above. They also have SEO plugins.
Put a menu on your front page. Google doesn’t like ‘splash’ pages that require clicking to get to any content.
Thank you very much.
