Final Day of the Baseball Season:
Baltimore and Toronto will be Wild Card teams if they win their games.
Detroit must beat Atlanta, then beat Cleveland Monday in a make-up, if either Baltimore or Toronto lose.
In the National League.
San Francisco will play the Mets, with a win. The Cardinals need a Giants loss, beat Pittsburgh.
Current scores:
SF 2 LA 0 - Bottom of 2nd
BAL 1 NYY 0 - Bottom of 3rd
TOR 0 BOS 0 - Top of 2nd
ATL 1 DET 0 - Top of 2nd
STL 0 PIT 0 - Bottom of 2nd
NOBODY, I mean NOBODY outside of SF wants the Giants in the playoffs.
I think they will shock the Cubs in the NLDS if they are matched up against them.
Listening to the Giant’s broadcast on KNBR, bottom of the second inning with Jon Miller, considered one of the best, and is about to give the mic to Vin Scully for the third inning.
Meanwhile the Giants are ahead of the Dodgers 4-0 lead with two out in the bottom of the second, one on third with Brandon Belt up.
I’m not in SF. Don’t I count?
Are you a Giants fan?
I just think there’s something to their even-year magic, plus they have the pitching to shut anyone down.
Are you a Giant fan?
No I’m a big air conditioner
Bal 3 NYY 0 Top 4th.
Which is precisely where the Orioles were yesterday, didn’t work out for them in the end.
5-0 Giants.
Not looking good for St Louis.
Yup. I’m actually surprised the Giants still have playoff chances. I’ve been grousing this year because I thought they they didn’t get the kind of pitchers this year they needed to go all the way. Maybe i was wrong, we’ll see. This is an even year which ahs been speical for the Giants since 2010.
I think the Giants are cool with a lot of Christians on the team including Bochy the manager. A bunch of good guys IMO.
Meanwhile the Giants are ahead 5-0 and we are now listening to Vin Scully who surprisingly is a Giants fan, in the third inning on KNBR.
A lot of people forget that it was Vin Scully who called probably the most famous play in the history of Candlestick Park, “The Catch” in the 1981 NFC Championship Game.
Its an exciting time of year for baseball.
But I wish the playoffs didn’t go on for an entire month.
And I wish the World Series didn’t end in November. Too much chance of playing the most important games of the season in bad baseball weather. You can’t expect that only the warm weather or domed stadium teams will be in the playoffs.
Vin Scully is a Giants fan, because he grew up in New York when they were the New York Giants.
Cardinals lead 1-0, but it probably won’t matter.
My Royals, unfortunately have swooned in the second half. Pitching has got to improve if we’re going to be WS contenders next year.
Tribe 2 to 1 over KC, bottom of 3rd. C Yan Gomes who separated his shoulder in mid-July, hit a 2 run homer on the first pitch of his first ab as a starter to take the lead.
You think Cleveland is rooting for Atlanta today?
Tribe 2 to 1 after 3. KC, men on 1st and 3rd with one out, hit into a 3-6-1 dp. Go Tribe!
Yanks get a run to make it 3-1, going to the bottom of the 5th.
