Can the Club for Growth Survive Donald Trump?
Politico ^ | 10/1/2016 | Simon van Zuylen-Wood

(The free-market group spent big to defeat Trump, but he proved its supporters weren’t quite as faithful as once thought)

Last year, back when polls favorable to Donald Trump were still being dismissed and skittish GOP candidates shied from confronting the blustery mogul, one group took him on directly. The Club for Growth, the deep-pocketed interest group that is feared by Republicans who come into its cross hairs for supporting tax or spending hikes, began running ads decrying Trump’s lack of conservative bona fides.

“There’s nothing conservative about supporting socialized single-payer health care,” intoned a typical TV spot. “There’s nothing conservative about giving money to the Clintons. There’s nothing conservative about Donald Trump.”

But in seeking to destroy Trump’s mystique, the Club only damaged its own—badly.

Trump gave no indication he was intimidated by a group that over the previous decade had earned a reputation for burying Republicans it considered ideologically impure. “They did this ad,” Trump said in rambling monologue in October 2015 at a casino on the Las Vegas strip. “The good news was it had no impact. The pictures were so beautiful. I want to find ... Where did they get them? I was like 20 years younger. I looked so handsome. I never knew I was that goodlooking in a suit. I looked so good.”

Good question. Huckabee called them the Club for Greed. He’s no good. I do believe they supported Arnold during the Calif. recall in 2003. They went for the flash so they are not too pure.

There is a new reality. These so called conservative groups will see their
funds dry up. It’s all about fund raising and no action. Good riddance.

Judicial Watch, the Veritas effort with O’Keefe, and the Senate Conservatives Fund has had recent wins in their areas of influence, but otherwise I don't think I've seen much elsewhere.

Judicial Watch wins at what they do.
They deliver tangable wins.

They are in a different league than the ones who grandstand,
but have no tangable results.

Yeah, especially Brent Bozell trying to put the squeeze on Trump for a cool million. I must say that I’m glad he’s come around too. Chamber of Commerce and The Business Roundtable are another matter though-

Club for Crony Capitalism

You may disagree with the Club for Growth, but they are certainly not advocates of crony capitalism. Far from it.

Get real. The Club for Growth doesn't support free market principles and limited government that Republicans should have already be supporting to begin with. They're just another pro-Republican PAC who fatten their bottom line from the donors.

That's the beauty of Trump. He has stripped naked all of these conservative groups and PACs for who they are.

I am very surprised to see you say that. What policy positions has the CFG taken that lead you to this conclusion?
