I just installed it on a tower connected to my living room TV.

It looks really nice I have to say.

If you burned a DVD of the OS, it still installs just fine even weeks after it is no longer “free”.

“and it was only forced on 390 million of them.”

Why not say all of them?

Because no one could ever have done it because they wanted to.

LINUX keeps getting more user-friendly - I’m just about ready to make the jump - just need to find a few more apps that I like and which run on the platform.

...350 million devices in one year is better than where previous versions of Windows were at the same point in their lifecycle, helped no doubt by Microsoft’s helpful approach of automatically downloading it and upgrading your PC without you having to bother doing this yourself.

The writer's use of sarcasm was brilliantly done!

Wonder what percentage are desktops and laptops? We don’t have tons of extra cash to buy a new pc every couple of years so that the hardware and applications remain compatible with the OS. Ditto for the business where I work.

Cell phones are probably a different story. Sadly MS have adopted the Apple business model of planned obsolescence.

Yes, that's why I often post articles from The Register. Keen sense of sarcastic humor in their writing style.
