Welcome to the fold, Alas--

Don't know if we've discussed this before, but Pat Frank's Alas Babylon was and still is one of my favorite novels. I was 12 when I read it in 1959 and it made me realize how dangerous atomic war could be.

I remember seeing "Alas, Babylon" on "Playhouse 90" (a CBS dramatic television series 1956-60) and it starred as I recall Don Murray as Randy, Dana Andrews as Mark, Kim Hunter as Helen, Everett Sloane as Dr. Gunn, Barbara Rush as Liz and Rita Moreno as Rita.

I do not recall it, but Burt Reynolds played Ace according to imdb.

Have checked youtube regularly for it but no luck. I've read the novel too many times to keep count over the last 57 years but it still stands as a great tale--

And if The Hildrebeast gets elected, all I can say is Alas Babylon!

Yeah, I’ve been looking for it too, for the past 20 years! It just isn’t out there. There MAY be a dusty video tape sitting on a shelve in some Burbank closet, but as far as I know no one has encoded it to digital...

Maybe us FReepers should do our own production, huh? Who would you like to be—you got the role! I want to be Two-tone’s preacher father!
