Yes, the new spellings for old names seems to be a ‘fad’ these days. IE: Jeh Johnson

Frankly, Jon Voight should really change his spelling. He is too old to be running around with a name like Jon - the spelling is ‘elitist’ in nature.....in fact, John Kerry (the epitome of all elitists) spells his name JOHN.

LOL yes, the episode of Seinfeld and George buying a vehicle once owned by Voight is remembered :)

Jon is a shortened version of Jonathan. It has been in existence long before Voight was born.

I’m a “John” but when I was growing up “Jon” was often short for “Jonathan”.... no reason a “Jonathan” needs to spell as a “John”.... not that I care!
