On a side note, I walked into a L.L. Bean store in (upscale) NW suburban Chicago and asked if they sold duck boots. I got three blank stares. I pointed at my feet, and said, “these.” No one believed that they were even a L.L Bean product until I rubbed the mud off to show them.

I was at the Freeport store, at customer service, behind an elderly lady, who was leaving off her double L gum boots to be resoled. It was so cute, she didn’t want to let go of them ....she was not trusting of parting from them. It was very endearing.
