I didnt remember him as getting off scott-free. He got off easy.. considering. No, he didn't get off easy. He got about what was coming to him, I think.
He was a total sleeze, which is exactly what I thought at the age of 21 or 22 when I used to see his ads when I went down to the NYC area.
Actually, the place I went was Chappaqua, believe it or not.

Tourists?
Maybe. They might also have been used for fencing stolen merchandise. Perhaps they worked some kind of warranty scam on the manufacturers.
Times Square was mucho sleazy back then, a real dump.

That guy was famous all over the country, even places far from where his commercials ran. He spawned the whole “crazy salesman” TV commercial genre. (Not a good thing)
To: SMGFan
He was only 68? So he was 35-40 when he was doing that? Jeez.
To: SMGFan
Crazy Eddie was nothing but a thief compared to Madman Muntz, whose self-taught engineering skills and methods are still influential today. He had a very interesting life.

There used to be a Crazy Eddie’s Night of Thrills at Raceway Park in Englishtown in the late ‘70’s.

“Hillary not getting to 69.”
I’d imagine Hillary has “gotten to 69” plenty of times by now.
But it’s best left unimagined, trust me.

Back in the late 70s there were electronic stores like that in Times Square ( among other things). Who would buy electronics in NY Times Square? The best view of those "Tourist Traps" was the movie, "You Don't Mess with the Zohan." Wildly funny movie by Adam Sandler. "Going out of business!" "Sony guts!"

Actually, the place I went was Chappaqua, believe it or not. It was a pretty good sized NY chain. I recall there was one in Yonkers on Central Ave, and another one not too far from Stony Brook on the Island. And there were probably at least 3 or 4 more.
