Ridiculous assertion from an idiot and a fool. Tires are an essential component of a car in order to function as transportation, and are always provided. However, there are many accessories for a car that a dealer will charge you an arm and a leg. Hundreds of dollars for floor mats. Thousands of dollars for stereo electronics. Same goes for step-up rails and roof racks, leather upholstery, GPS systems, heated mirrors and seats, etc. All can be provided as options and the dealer will overcharge you for them.
So why aren't you complaining about car manufacturers? Huh? I bought a 4x4 truck at the base price, and then purchased my accessories from 3rd parties and saved a bundle. Step-up rails, bed liner, bed extender, trailer hitch, etc. I did not complain to the car manufacturer because it is what it is! Same goes for any company selling goods. The add-ons are optional items. You don't have to purchase them to use the product. Apple is doing a service for their customers by providing an optional item for free. At no extra cost, that wasn't there before. You need to take some economic courses to catch up to the rest of us.
When you buy something on line, and the seller gives you free shipping, do you really think you are getting something for free?
Apparently you do. That's a standard marketing tool. Weak-minded people see the word "free", and they get all excited thinking they are getting some sort of wonderful bargain.
You did actually answer my original question, however, so I thank you for that, in spite of your unfounded and irrelevant ad-hominem insults. By providing the price for that adapter, you proved that they aren't free. If Apple chose not to include the adapter, they could charge $9 less for the phone (a reduction of 1.4% off the base price of the cheapest iPhone 7).
google Hackentosh.
You will have all the free .iso information you could ever want. With an off-the-shelf Gigabyte motherboard, outfitted with the Intel i5 chipset and memory of your choice, you can make a dual-booting PC/Mac for pretty cheap.
All you have to do is ask - isn’t that better than looking like an ass? I mean, you just sit there babbling non-sense over and over; and you kept getting humiliated over and over. Most people would sit back and say “hmmm, maybe I just don’t know as much as I think I do”. Perhaps you ought to waste 10 minutes of your life and go to an Apple store and waste a salesman’s time and ask some intelligent questions? They are paid hourly - not on commission. They would be glad to educate you, and Apple can afford the time.
Or, if you have the compatible hardware and an old spare harddrive; create a bootable hackentosh partition.
Then, with a hands-on experience; you may begin to understand why folks who know both systems - CHOOSE to use Macs. Are you naive enough to think that Swordmaker and I don’t know a thing or two about Windows? I’ve worked R&D in the computer industry for 25 years, for both Intel and AMD. I’ve done motherboard design, internal register design and debug on 64 bit architecture. I’ve worked for a little known company called Cray Inc; working on massively parallel supercomputers for years; playing with 256 bit machines when the industry was boasting of 32 bits.
At work, I use Windows, like everyone else. At home, I chose to use the Mac - why? Because, when I’m on my own time, I want to sit down and have a stressfree, productive and “get it done” bit of time. My little 4 year old Mac Mini does more than my much more expensive workstation at my office does, it’s more reliable, it’s left on 24/7/365. I sit down, and it’s ready to do whatever I ask it to do.
I have Parallels loaded; so I can run WinXP, Win7 Pro and Win10 at ~97% efficiency of native speed on my Intel i5 chipset; while running OSX (on top of UNIX) - so I can log into my secure network at work and the host of network security that is there - without a hitch.
At work, we exchange Laptops every 2 years because they are junk. Yet, the more expensive Apple laptops just keep going strong. Those “idiots” at NASA use Apple Laptops and would you believe that they don’t have the same problems that the other goverment agencies have? Yeah, NASA engineers are known for being “idiots” aren’t they? We go with, what works for us - and the Macs just work - and keep on working.

Sorry, but running the Apple OS in a non-Apple machine isn’t Linux. But you’re more than welcome to on about it, if that’s a discussion more to your liking. Though it’s hardly a newsflash that you can install and run any pretty much any OS on any hardware. It just takes some toying around.
By the way, it’s “Hackintosh”. You’re welcome.
Apple is offering a part for free, bundled in the box. Separately, it is a $9 item. Chump change. It wasn't offered before, and it is freely given now. So it is free! Free. Why can't you understand that? Either you have a specific agenda to target a single company, Apple, or you're an idiot. Take your choice.
You are either a weak-minded fool, or you are creating a mountain of disgust because you are an anti-Apple bigot. Pure and simple. So what is it? Idiot? or bigot?
The part is free, and nothing you say can alter that truth. Otherwise, you would chastise other companies who follow similar practices, yet you don't. Gotcha.
Very well said, everything you said. I'm a former Windows server administrator. As you said in your situation, same here, we were swapping out Windows machines every two years, sometimes less, because they were junk. Our Macs hava a longer life cycle. And I also have a Mac Mini server, 6 years old, that is my go-to machine for daily stuff. No problems, still going strong. That can't be said for all the Windows machines I've had to put up with. I still have a couple running XP, but they've had their problems. None with Macs.
Just because the various pieces you receive aren't priced separately doesn't mean you aren't paying for them. And my point is valid regardless of whether that adapter costs $0.09, $9.00, or $90.00.
In the world of consumer products, nothing is free.
You can insult me all you want, but in doing so, you are just making yourself look bad, just like the people who arrive with the "Apple is gay" comments.
Wrong. Words and context. People on welfare get things for free. To them. There is a cost to others, namely taxpayers like me. But for welfare folks, it is free. Got that? So things are free to some people who receive them. You need some schooling, child.
My granddaughter gets a lot of things for free. When we go to Costco or Trader Joe's, she gets samples of food items... for free. Most of the time, we have no intention of buying the product that she is sampling. To her and us, it is a free item which she enjoys eating. It may cost the store, the maker, or other customers who buy the product, but to us it is free. Got that? Same for coupons. At times, goods are offered for free when you hand over a coupon. It's free to us if we buy no other products. Someone else is paying for it, but for us it's free. Got that?
I don't intentionally insult you, I'm just chiding you as I would a child. My 4-year-old granddaughter quickly learns when corrected, but you seem to be stuck on ignorance.
LOL! That's pure unadulterated bull****! When you correct or guide your granddaughter, do you call her an idiot? Do you call her a fool?
For her sake, I sure hope not.
Nope. She is more logical and understanding than you. And she is only 4 years old. Her mom and dad both have I.Q.s in the 140s, and she takes after them (and me). She can read and write. Not cursive yet, that'll come later. She's also learning Japanese, while taking her karate classes among several others. Youngest one in her class. So no, I don't call a 4-year-old a fool. Don't have any reason to, unless she had lived decades and should know better... like some people.
More intentional insults from someone who claims that his (or her) insults aren’t intentional.
Fascinating.
