“A ballerina yesterday. An engineer today."

Why has there always been this great push (pressure) to get girls interested in Science/Engineering, etc.?

Study what you want to study, not something that's forced upon you...or when you get a full scholarship.

I could not imagine going into a field of work that I hated.

If a girl wants to become an engineer...great! But why force it upon her simply because it is a male-dominated profession?

I think you should study what you're good at. Generally that's the same as what you want, but not always. Follow your talent, not your passion.

My girlfriend steered her daughter into the engineering profession when she was just out of high school. Her daughter attended Michigan Tech University in the U.P. of Michigan and became a mechanical engineer at the age of 25. Today, the daughter works at the GM Tech Center in Warren, Mi. and earns a substantial wage. Women engineers can pretty much write their own ticket in this high tech world that we live in today.
