We all think alike.

Our local mall is 40 miles from our house. By the time you factor in time, gas, traffic hassle... it just doesn't make sense. And that is discounting the fact that the stores are geared towards young people... selling expensive trendy clothing that is just junk. As I said before, one store is dedicated solely to caps. I think the name is Lidz or something equally ridiculous.

The only mall I don't mind visiting is the one right across the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. On the one time we went to celebrate my birthday, we parked in the mall lot, strolled across to pick up our tickets from "will call" and blew time in the air-conditioned mall waiting for showtime. Didn't buy a thing, but at least the window shopping was nice. After the show, the ice cream place in the mall was still open, so we let the traffic clear out while we ate outrageously expensive ice cream, and I have to say it was worth every nickle. Marble Slab Creamery or something like that.

We're going again next week. Loretta Lynn is performing, and she doesn't do that often. How often do you get a chance to see a legend perform? It's my belated birthday gift for this year. Our seats aren't the best but her shows sell out quick so we were lucky to get them, and we'll enjoy the show anyway.

I would never have guessed, buy you can actually buy liquor and drink it right in those church pews they have you sit in. Maybe the birthday boy had a Jack Daniels last time he was there... and maybe he didn't. But he did.
