Too bad he doesn’t live in a “No Fault Divorce” state.
I’m guessing that’s the reason he won’t just divorce her.
Would a court make a 70 y/o retired man pay alimony to his exwife?

Actually (and unfortunately) every state except New York is a no-fault state.

Yes they would and its not a community property state so she would get at least half. I know women who have taken men for their entire farms. They marry, stay about 10 years then divorce. One woman has made a living doing it - and I cannot figure out why men still marry her.

My husband and I got married in CA (Community property state) but my grandfather still insisted he sign a prenup (which ticked off my inlaws until they moved to SoDak and realized why he was so insistent). And for the life of me, I don’t get why more men don’t insist on one.
