The Wal Mart in this town used to be right across the street from the projects. Even though the area is only 10% black, the majority of shoplifting was done by blacks. It moved across town and the shoplifting declined significantly. However, several Wal Marts in predominantly white areas in this area recently shut down due to shoplifting. The Oxycontin and methamphetamine have taken a toll, so much that the CDC named the surrounding counties as threatened with AIDS due to the drug usage.
