...except that the 80 year old football coach was Joe Patern who made it pretty clear to the University president that he wasn’t leaving any way except feet-first and 2 successive attempts to get him to retire failed. No. Joe was the 800 lb gorilla at PSU, not just the athetic dept or the football program.

The deference shown to Joe is what caused the non-supervision of the football program and it’s hangers on, like Jerry Sandusky.

He was told what was going on. He pretended it wasn’t happening.
There was boys being supplied to the big pedophile donors. He had to know. He did know. Stop coddling his memory. He got what he deserved. Infamy.

The fact that Joe could be more persuasive than the administration of PSU shows the administration was not doing their job. The people in the town, the prosecutors, the HR department of the school along with the board and the president had the direct responsibility for the welfare of everyone on the school property. The fact that they did not put the welfare of the children on campus before the football coach is ridiculous.

Its not adequate to just say the football coach was powerful. For him to be powerful, others had to be shirking their responsibility. Sandusky was accused and the police did nothing. The situation was brought to the attention of the administration and they did nothing. It made the news paper and mothers still sent their kids to his camp.
