pre-season is a joke.

Anyone paying for pre-season is brain dead.

NCAA is big time, big money football, too, and they don’t see any reason for any scrimmage games against opponents at all.

Anyone that Pays Anything to the National Felon League for ANY reason is brain dead.

for the record,I quit watching ALL Pro Sports many many years ago(over 20) when they gave up on Decency and Morality

some(all?) teams make pre-season part of the season ticket holder package. You are stuck with it.

College teams typically schedule their earliest games against pushover opponents. The pushovers agree to the mismatches because they get exposure and money into the program that wouldn’t be there otherwise. So, to a degree, colleges use games for tuning-up/evaluation, too. The difference is those games still count and are not guaranteed wins.

I think the NFL should do away with what used to be called exhibition games entirely and go with an eighteen game season.
