One of my coworkers recounted a first date to a sushi restaurant where they had some menu item that was crazy hot and i believe it was a “you eat free” if you consumed it. He figured, “hey, I’m Mexican, I can handle hot stuff”. He said he started to question the wisdom when he was asked to sign a waiver, and the unease grew when the kitchen staff mobilized out to watch. It did not end well...
He did get a second date though, ARF!
My kids used to have that “It’s not hot I can eat anything” boastful attitude until a few years back I took them to a hot chicken shack where the hottest stuff was made with Ghost Pepper.
Regulars, waitresses and the chef were looking on when kids attempted the hottest. It only took a couple of bites before they surrendered and have been ruined for hot pepper eats ever since.
