Local authorities (meaning a city council) passed this ban in Villeneuve-Loubet...coastal town. Far as I can see...the court only identified that one town and it’s ban. There are some others in France, and they’ve all said that they’d have to be instructed by some court to take down their law.

What the court said was that you can put up any restriction you want on civil liberties....if there is a proven risk to public order. Based on recent laws drafted and passed in France....they can stop Muslim folks for an ID check at ten times the rate of a typical French citizen and there’s nothing that can be said about.

What has been said is that what hypes everyone up in France is the facial covering business and that’s banned now, with the court not saying anything against that. The burkini thing didn’t hype people up that much.

Course, all of this plays out for the spring Presidential election and gets the public hyped up.
