Wow. The things I remember aren’t even on that list. A lot of those awards are for movie music.
I remember songs like, “Short People,” “Louisiana 1924,” “Let’s Drop the Big One,” and “You Can Leave Your Hat On.”
I saw him on TV as a guest on some variety show. He was good, of course, but he also seemed totally distracted. He was sitting there with coke-bottle glasses, not really reacting to the host or the crowd, just grooving on the piano. It was as if he was a semi-autistic music nerd.
I hear you. Imho, he’s a genius. I know I have “Little Criminals” and possibly a “Best of” disc. One of his best songs was “Baltimore”, which I still love.
