I doubt this comes from a place of sensibility. Most academics I know (I work daily with them) are the most self-absorbed, ego-driven, intolerant individuals you will ever meet, despite their proclamations of tolerance and inclusion. Their entire careers are built around their ability to espouse their opinions, so no shortage of egos. Most can’t be bothered to teach their own classes. My suspicion is this comes from tenured faculty finally figuring out all this coddling and handholding is impinging on their time and energy, and they won’t stand for that.
Yes, it was. I just posted a thread on the University of Texas in Austin protesting campus carry with sex toys - Cocks Not Glocks. They’ll be demanding even more safe spaces. Every day there’s more garbage coming out of that university. The entirety of Austin should be razed and started over again.
