The Klan was founded in 1866 Pulaski Tennessee, by James R. Crowe, Richard R. Reed, Calvin C. Jones, John C. Lester, Frank O. McCord John B. Kennedy

None of these gentleman to my knowledge served in the Confederate government or were Generals, in the army they were just former veterans the only General in the Klan was Nathan Forrest but he was not a founding member if you have any sources, or cautions by all means share also let’s you should also take note that the radical Republicans along with occupying Union forces did their fair share of terrorizing the South

Civil War Trust article about Nathan Bedford Forrest

"After the war, Forrest is best known as having been a prominent figure in the foundation of the Ku Klux Klan, a group composed of mostly Confederate veterans committed to violent intimidation of blacks, northerners and republicans. He was “Grand Wizard” until he ordered the dissolution of the organization in 1869. "

He was the First Grand Wizard of the KKK, seems to me he got into the group pretty early on.
