In 1979/80 I rode in a Jeep CJ that belonged to the US Consulate. We were up-country in the hills and on windy roads. It had a bit of thin armor plate on the sides. Talk about top-heavy! It was scary to go around curves at 50 MPH. At least the Thai buses had a little shrine thing up front and there were usually monks on board in case you had to go check out the afterlife on a trip.
