In the newspaper under pets for adoption they are calling them terriers. However they also show their picture and they “ ain’t no terrier.” They are pits and I am sorry but I think they’re ugly.

See how silly that sounds?

If there was a manufacturer who made a gun so poorly, that there was a significant likelihood that it would go off when pointing at someone without the owner telling it to go off, you can make the the case to forbid its manufacture, not because its a gun, but because it is a gun that doesn't work properly.

Unlike guns, dogs are sentient beings. While an SUV or gun may kill someone according to a newspaper headline, it is the direct action of a human using or misusing the device that causes the action. When the headline says a dog kills someone, it may very well be the dog doing the killing.

So you're saying that there is a "significant likelihood" all Pit Bull Terriers attack? Good grief. I see tons of 'em around.
About 99% wag their tails seeking to be scratched behind the ears, about the same as every other breed running around my neighborhood.
My technique when petsitting ANY breed of dog is to always be the alpha. Loving, friendly, full of praise, yet ALWAYS the alpha.

This guide is seriously flawed. The description of the pit bull in the lower left needs to be changed to AR-15.

Enough of one that I wouldn't leave a two year old in a room with one. I would leave one with my old rat terrier, though.

My main point was showing that comparing a sentient animal with a gun was an invalid analogy.

Like it was so weird. He never did anything like that before. I just don't get it. Weird.

Statistics prove out that folks who buy these “dogs” for protection end up harming/killing a family/extended family/neighbor instead. For the record, I hate dogs, all breeds, sorry, that’s just me.

Very good point, EQAndyBuzz.
AR-15, AK-47, Glocks, and pit bull terriers are often mislabeled.

many years ago hubby and his buddy were going out pheasant hunting...they had to stop at his friends house to pick up the dog, Hubby was standing next to the car and the dog ran passed him and never slowed down but managed to tear a hole in his jeans...the dog had gone after the mail man once but they caught the dog as it ran out of the front door....

His friend came over one night for a cup of coffee....we had a sweet mutt and he was laying his head on Petes lap and they were getting along fine, I got pissed off at his laughing about his dog catching hubbys jeans and tearing the knee....I walked into the family room where his friend was sitting petting my sweet dog....Without a change in my tone of voice I said "get him mugs".....the dog went for the friends face, he got as far back in the chair as he could get, I then called the dog over to me. The friend was pissed and said you sic that dog on me....I smiles sweetly and said its not much fun when your on the other end of a dogs mouth is it.....hubby said he never took his eye of the other guys dog when then went in the fields, he said friend or no friend if the SOBcomes near me, I would shoot his dam dog that he though was so funny....That was one of the best dogs I ever had, we did get into a couple of disagreements, but with small kids, I won every disagreement that dog and I had....He use to play tetter ball by himself until he got tired...

Are you a breeder?

I trained dogs professionally for shultzhund.....

I met with many breeders to carefully pick for character traits first, looks second....

Most reputable breeders breed for bloodline, genetics and breed character.

Especially in working dogs....
