Their Olympics were over. They were out partying and drinking. They needed a bathroom but the bathrooms were all locked. Instead of public urination (which the rest of the country does) they broke a door. After they are done the security guard shows up and demands the money to fix the door (otherwise it would probably come out of his pay). The guard may have to be somewhat persuasive and pulls his gun. They pay him and leave. They make up a story to cover why they lost all their money.
The swimmers are stupid jerks but an open bathroom would have helped.
Well, if they were in such dire need of a bathroom at that hour, why couldn’t they have located the security guard and slipped him a couple of Yankee dollars to open the bathroom for them? Being in a non-emergency situation does not justify damaging someone else’s property.
