Certainly having so much concrete now versus 1935 has not helped the situation either. Houses are designed differently now than back then - totally air tight and a lot of windows don’t even open. We also didn’t build one house on top of another. We had a huge attic fan and fans in every bedroom.

Clothes were dried outside on a clothes line and my mom cooked in the morning from 4 a.m. to 6 a.m., including baking a pie or cake for dinner that night.

We survived for a lot of years quite well. Remember being cold a whole lot more than I remember being hot.
