Yeah, exactly. Wasn't too long ago, a casual chain like this had their basic dishes--burgers, tacos, salads in the $5-6 range and the drinks were about a buck to a $1.50. I am talking about 8 years ago, not 40 years ago. (the irony, gee I wonder what changed 8 years ago, hmmm)

Now burgers at these places are $11-12 minimum and drinks (sodas) are about $3.

For a family of four, that'll run you $75-$85.

We used to eat at places like this quite a bit. We very rarely do it anymore.

Went to Texas Roadhouse last week. Came out stuffed and had go boxes for lunch the next day. Total bill was $51 for four of us and included a couple of ‘ritas.

Yeah, and in the meantime all the fast casual restaurants have sprung up. They’re cheaper, the food is just as good or often better, and quicker. I’d eat anything at Chipotle over Chili’s, and we used to eat at Chili’s a lot around 8-10 years ago. We have eaten in Chili’s once in the past year and it was dirty, slow, the sodas were totally flat, and our waitress didn’t speak English. I’ll just go to Five Guys, Culver’s, or Smash Burger instead.
