Those other surgeries you hear of typically don’t have a conscious person who is being told to do stuff in a role (patient) for which they are not.
In short, I don’t ever recall a guest visitor at a US hospital being told to prepare himself for surgery and willingly doing so. It’s always an existing patient becoming a victim of a wrong operation.
Sure isn’t, wrong cataract implants are quite common in the USA. First one was wrong strength to weak and the surgeon nicked a nerve, never seen well out of the left eye since. Right eye done much later, different surgeon, correct lens no problems.
Except the Astigmatism the cataract surgery left me with and DRY EYE SYNDROME, which I DID NOT have before.
