If you want on or off the ping list for the daily newspaper from 120 years ago, drop me a line, either here or by FReep mail. The rate is 23 cents per week (3 cents for the dailies and a nickel for Sunday).

P.S. I am traveling right now, so the paper will be delivered when I have the opportunity.

Never explained why the militia was on the streets in the first place. Did someone see a spaniard?

The 5th Regiment was called upon to quell civil disturbances, aid in emergencies, perform ceremonial duties, and serve under federal jurisdiction when required. It fought the fire at the Wood, Perry & Co. lumber yard in the FLATS (1884) and helped put down (union) violence associated with the CLEVELAND ROLLING MILL STRIKES (1885) and the Brown Hoisting & Conveying Machinery Co. strike (1896).

Obastard said we don’t need BAYONETS any more, this is the 21’st century.
Guess he’s never been in close combat, never felt the hot blood of his countries enemies on his hands, never seen the look in your enemies eyes as he dies, never had to resort to an entrenching tool to kill some son of a bitch who was trying to kill you for his country.
Never had to receive the order to FIX BAYONETS; makes you damn near shit your pants in fear.
Never known how afraid you can be with rounds still left to expend, but still putting that ugly assed knife on the end of your weapon, and knowing that if it has come to this, it’s really bad.
Obama has never had to fear for his life; BECAUSE MEN WHO HAVE BEEN WILLING TO “FIX BAYONETS” HAVE BEEN WILLING TO PROTECT HIS LIFE.
