If a non-Zika carrying mosquito bites someone carrying Zika can it then transmit the virus to another individual when it bites them? Yes according to the CDC: Mosquitoes become infected when they feed on a person already infected with the virus. Infected mosquitoes can then spread the virus to other people through bites.

Most ot the Brazil emphasis has been on eradicating Aedes aegypti - as the previously known Zika carrier.
Now, the investigative direction is aimed at another mosquito , Culex quinquefasciatus where it was recently learned as a Zika virus carrier
( which is 20 times more common than Aedes aegypti in Brazil).
So we are learning more each day about the carriers, and the effects of the Zika Virus on fetus development, and how it is transmitted.
Yes, right now it is believed that the virus is able to be transmitted among various mosquito species.
