My stupid PCs with the dumb Windows 10, just upgraded last week, have some issues with the flash player that the CBC is using to stream the Olympics so using a VPN I tried to see the Canadian Broadcast and it was so choppy the video that I spent the next 5 hours trying to fix it to no avail. Totally unhappy about the situation. My Desktop was even bad with Youtube videos in HD, but my Laptop was fine with them. They aren’t using the same drivers for video. The Desktop is on AT Mobility Raedeon and the Desktop is on NIVIDA graphics which the PC renamed Microsoft Basic Graphic Drivers in the Device Manager. I’m to the point of having to waste the time to post my issues on a forum for computer repair and if that is not enough then calling Microsoft or heading to either a Windows Store, MircoCenter, or calling a repairman over. I only now have read up on various audio and video issues people have had since upgrading. It is virtually the only issue I have with Wind 10. Streaming is choppy and using a digital Tv tuner I bought in 2014 to see TV, it is also choppier with extensive movement on the screen. So I couldn’t get thru the coverage of the Opening Ceremonies. It’s at the site on replay. I myself avoid NBC.
The graphic cards are ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 Series on the Notebook or Laptop and some NVIDIA Driver on the Desktop but that now say on the Device Manager Microsoft Basic Display Drivers. I hope it didn’t install wrong on the Desktop PC. I am unsure if the card is the GeoForce brand of NIDIA drivers. I would venture to say it is but the exact brand I have no idea because I didn’t get the specs down before the upgrade. Both are Compaq Presario computers and both are in the CQ line. And both were bought in 2012 with Windows 7 but the Laptop had Win 7 Pro and the PC had Win 7 Home. All Win 10 versions upgraded are now Win 10 Pro.
It went fast, really fast, the install of Win 10 on the Laptop. But the install on the Desktop PC was a mess that took days to do, but I figured out the reason eventually. I to undo the Windows update feature in Win 7 and then undo the Antivirus program until the install was finished.
Well now either streaming or using flash or the video drivers aren’t working 100% well. Both machines were so choppy on the CBC streaming that I have to interest to try again. Aiming to test other sites like the Fox News stream available to cable called Fox News Go and playing movies both online and on DVD or thru a file. I now find myself have to spent hours testing things and doing fixes and wasting time posting my issues and gather up all the information needed.
