A Muslim in Arabic means"one who gives himself to God," and is by definition, someone who adheres to Islam. By contrast, a Moslem in Arabic means"one who is evil and unjust" when the word is pronounced, as it is in English, Mozlem with a z. Journalists switched to Muslim from Moslem in recent years under pressure from Islamic groups.

Well I think Muslim sounds uglier so use it.
Islam is a ridiculous destructive religion and Western countries encouraging it’s penetration is leftist treason.

I really don’t care how it is pronounced...it is the end of civilization regardless.
To: NorthMountain
Mozlem seems more appropriate by definition.

But the seemingly arbitrary choice of spellings is a sensitive subject for many followers of Islam. What a surprise...

Times change and terms change. A Muslim/Moslem was called a Mussulman at one time. I kind of like the old terminology and may start using it.
To: disndat
Growing up in the 50s and 60s I never saw or heard it as anything other than Moslem.
The first time I ever saw Muslim was with Black Muslim.
We also knew the religion as Mohammadism. BTW, my spell checker just changed the word to Muhammadanism.

Because those are two different things.
Moslems live in the Middle East.
Muslims live in the US (US is in Muslim)
