Hiked up to the flow two weeks ago to check-off a bucket-list entry for my wife. 10 miles round-trip from the parking area and worth every step. It’s amazing to watch the earth creat new land from 20 feet away. The images and video we captured are mesmerizing. I feel for those trying to homestead on their land, now replaced with the crust of Pele’.

Well, a lot of people have SEEN Kilauea, but I’ve been in it and the “ground” was warm to the point of my gym shoes melting a bit. I was stunned at how sharp the landscape was - falling was a real hazard and we should have brought leather gloves. But, not too bad for a Midwesterner.
