I was a firm parent but never did anything that a sensible person would consider abusive. Discipline never left my kids with burns, blisters, scars, exposure to Obama/Hillary speeches, or anything else cruel. They got all of that (except for the last and most inhumane one) from outdoor activities, but never inflicted by me.
