Just tell them to think of the Girl From Inpanema while they are splashing around in the effluence.

(The above is not a statement of fact. It is either satire or opinion. Or both.)

Zika virus, floating feces, high crime, massive corruption. What’s not to like about Brazil ‘16?

When will they just have the Winter Olympics in one place, the Summer Olympics in one place and put a chargeback system in place for countries? Every country, minus a couple lose money on hosting the olympics.

I can see the Olympics being split up among several countries with different countries hosting certain events.

They added a new sport this year which was not mentioned.

Rather than a 17-day infomercial for Brazilian tourism, the games risk alienating wealthy foreigners from traveling to the former Portuguese colony. Amen to that. I went to Brazil in the 1990s and really liked it. I have always wanted to go back for vacation and was planning on it next year. After all this bad press, I probably won't. This surprises me. I consider myself fairly well read but these stories are a real eye-opener for me. I know that non-Western countries aren't the cleanest, safest places to visit but I've always accepted some level of risk in traveling. But these Brazil stories are a lot worse than I thought was the case.

Brazilian Doctor on Rio Games: Foreign Athletes Will Literally Be Swimming in Human CrapSo what?!? Americans have been swimming in it for nearly eight years under the Traitorobama kakistocracy.

The games usually have a few goofy ‘mascots’...I hope they look like a virus under a microscope.

A pal from my former employer vacationed with his wife and another couple in Brazil a dozen years ago. 15 minutes after he hit the beach, someone shoved a pistol in his ribs and took his wristwatch and wallet.

Could be worse. They could be forced to attend the Democrat convention.

I predict the 2016 Summer Olympics will be a big fiasco and possibly the beginning of the end of the Olympic tradition, at least in its current form.
It makes no sense that countries that are barely staying afloat should spend billions on stadiums and facilities for a 2-week event.

Sorry, but there’s no way you can compete in an open water sport without getting a bunch of water in your mouth. When you exert yourself at that level you suck in a lot of air through your mouth, it’s unavoidable. Where you do it in the water you also suck in your share of water. There’s no way you can compete at that level and just breath through your nose.

Tokyo will be the next stop for the summer games. Likely things will improve from whatever goes wrong in Rio.
