They think that part of the reason Dolly died young was because her TELOMERES had already degraded on her first day of life:

She was born “old”.

She was old by the SAME margin that the donor cells were old..!

You know those plastic thingies at the end of the laces on your tennis shoes?

Those are like telomeres, which cap chromosomes to prevent them from fraying, and over time they degrade a bit.
