Ted Cruz's extraordinary speech at the Republican not only angered Donald Trump's supporters who were in the hall Wednesday – it set off one of Cruz's senior Senate colleagues, who is now branding him a 'liar.'
'I think what people saw last night is what we have seen in the Senate. No matter how conservative you are, you never can meet Ted's standard,' fumed retiring senator Dan Coats of Indiana in an interview with IndyStar.
'He only thinks of himself, he doesn't think about party. He's a wrecking ball.' said Coates, the former U.S. ambassador to Germany who did two stints in the Senate.
Coates was so outraged at Cruz, who delivered a long speech where he called people to vote their 'conscience' but wouldn't endorse Trump, that he was willing to shatter the normal etiquette of not insulting fellow senators so directly.
'He's the most self-centered, narcissistic, pathological liar I've ever seen — and you can quote me on that,' he told the paper.
Cruz suffered similar, though less insulting, abuse when he faced down angry questioning from members of his own delegation, who shouted out questions about why he wouldn't endorse Trump.
Cruz's speech exposed a deep rift. He got booed in the hall by Trump supporters when he didn't endorse. Then Trump appeared in the hall as if to interrupt him, and Cruz supporters booed Trump.

After everything that has transpired, I don’t believe he is a true conservative at all, no matter what that rating says. He’s proved to me in the real world, he is not.
I also suspect you might be trolling since I’ve seen you degrade a couple of Freepers, calling them Trumpets. You have to know, the #NeverTrump stuff is not allowed and the focus is on defeating the crooked Hillary.
