What did you think of Trump's speech?

Posted on 07/21/2016 9:17:54 PM PDT by MNDude

Of course we all loved it, but how do you think it'll effect voters?

Independents, anti-Trump Republicans, evangelicals, other needed voting blocks?

I put CNN on after.... Ana Navarro the Republican whined he didn’t speak about legal immigrants (because there is no problem with legal immigrants, dope).

There are serious problems with legal immigration that would have stirred up a hornets' nest if he had gone into them. First is that the steadily rising numbers of legal immigrants admitted has skyrocketed under recent administrations, contributing to the destabilization of our economy and society.

Second, the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965 pushed on the US by the Kennedy brothers has for the past half-century lessened the proportion of white Europeans admitted and increased the number of persons from markedly different cultures. That is when islamists first began gaining a foothold in our nation, and they soon began organizing how they would take us over. (See the Long Plan for Change, 1991; scroll down for translation.) By now, "cultural jihadists" have multiple institutions in place to assist in their planned overthrow.

And thirdly, to stay on the positive side, Trump's speech did mention that allowing so many illegals to burden our economy and society makes it harder for legal immigrants to establish themselves economically and rise above the poverty they were trying to escape.

"But my greatest compassion will be for our own struggling citizens. My plan is the exact opposite of the radical and dangerous immigration policy of Hillary Clinton. Americans want relief from uncontrolled immigration. Communities want relief. Yet Hillary Clinton is proposing mass amnesty, mass immigration, and mass lawlessness. Her plan will overwhelm your schools and hospitals, further reduce your jobs and wages, and make it harder for recent immigrants to escape from poverty."

Van Jones was hyperventilating that he was watching a dictator ascend, that Trump is racist towards black people.

Van Jones is an avowed communist, so you can just ignore any sort of reasoning process behind his remarks—he is just going to spout the CPUSA line in complete opposition to actual facts. The Convention just got done showcasing many people of color who were long-time friends or employees of Trump and who admire and even love the man and his family deeply. The real problem is why CNN considers Van Jones worth their air time.

Great speech, better than I expected. He needs to attack Hillary and did it effectively. In the last two elections, McCain and Romney both failed to go after Obama, almost as if they liked him.

Your post is stunningly accurate assessment of how "conservatives" need to wake up and see reality! Thanks for posting.

For the first time I can recall, he mentioned his own immediate family, his own brothers and sisters. I listened on radio. Don’t know if Donald’s siblings appeared on camera.

They did not, at least on the YouTube official RNC channel, except that he showed several photos of his dad.

Early in the campaign, he casually mentioned that his sister Mary Anne, who is a Federal judge, would make a great SCOTUS justice, which set off a firestorm because of a past decision of hers in support of abortion. So possibly he has shied away since then. But Melania's speech also mentioned every one of his parents and siblings as well as her parents and sister, and or course the children. I was glad to hear that. The only names she didn't mention were Ivana and Marla -- LOL! But I saw Marla photographed with Tiffany the night of Tiffany's speech, and it's probable that Ivana was there to see her wonderful kids, too. Maybe they had a skybox for a few VIPs and influential private persons.

Kudos to Cleveland as well for keeping everyone safe and the demonstrations, for the most part, out of the news.

Absolutely. Their PD, and all the officers from other states who came to support them, did a magnificent job!

In my memory no Republican has not ended an acceptance speech with God Bless America. I have a problem with that.

If that is your problem with this speech, your problem runs a lot deeper. This is what the Germans call a dipfenscheisser—someone so exacting they can crap the dot over an "i"—not a big-picture thinker.

The Boys might have been more reluctant( or cautious ) recruits and so he only mentioned the two women.

That was an awkward moment, to me. I think his sons might have justifiably felt slighted. I thought he perhaps was meaning that Melania and Ivaka planned much of the Convention. The sons' speeches were both magnificent

Donald Trump Jr RNC speech

Eric Trump RNC speech

The wall will work if it is manned and militarized. I am sure that legal action against the employers of illegal aliens is part of the plan to dry up the demand. Walls do work - just ask the East Germans.

I’m sorry Trump is not the 2nd coming of our Lord. Really, what is the point here, what are the alternatives?

Do you think Killary will be faith friendly in any way whatsoever?

I’ll bet anything that Ivanka was watching the convention.
It would be a proud moment for any parent watching all three of her children featured in their speaking roles. They have so far made good impressions with the public.
Baron is too young, and it would be too much pressure to put on him just yet.

This dividing into needy, greedy groups is getting ridiculous.

Excellent turn of phrase there, FRiend.

The way Trump views the world is about making. In a deal no one gets everything they want but they always get something they want. We’ll get what’s most important to us.

I did think it interesting that the fireworks, balloon- and confetti-drop at the end was accompanied by the Stones' "You Can't Always Get What You Want." Kinda subtle there. I agree with your premise.

I think those were the Colorado, Texas and Utah Cruz delegations. They were seated right in the center front.

Yes, I agree; supposedly they are still friendly. BTW, you mean Ivana, the mom. Ivanka is the daughter.

Trump didn't bother

He ended as usual, "we will make America great again" and then added "God bless you and goodnight! I love you!"

What an awful man. /Cruzlim

Do you really want to deploy an army on the 2000 mile southern border? And the comparison to the totalitarian East German Communists doesn’t make me feel better. We have to solve this problem, but I don’t think a wall is the way. I would rather do national retinal scans as a condition to working. Or something more realistic.

Maro,

I would rather deploy some military assets on the southern border to defend Americans vs. spreading it out over 900 bases worldwide and fighting in neocon wars. Isn’t the primary purpose of a nation’s military to defend their own border and citizens or am I confused about military history.

You sound like an butt-hurt neocon to me.

Just think any meeting, speech or the like that goes over an hour can lose folks.
