Easy to see why the death toll was so high. Most people looking the other way. A few looking toward where the truck was coming from. Just three seconds from when truck first spotted (about a 60 yards away) to impact by camera phone. Most probably never new what hit them, or only had a brief glimpse. With the attack lasting about 120 seconds, he averaged a bit less than two hits per second.
Did he hit five people in the three seconds where the truck is traveling in the video? You cannot see it, but it is likely given the crowded conditions shown.
Better lighting than I had imagined.
Hard to judge the distances. After reviewing the video a few more times, I think the truck was further away, maybe a hundred yards, when first seen, and is moving faster, maybe as much as 60 mph. The truck covers the distance in perhaps a little over 3 seconds.
I had been wondering how it could happen for 2 kilometers.
1. Extremely loud rock concert music. (even screams could just be interpreted as “jubilant”)
2. Visibility in a packed crowd is something like 3-4 yards head height sideways for people the same height.
I think people should watch this.
For sure most of us here now the barabarity of islam.
I by mistake on twitter started watching one of the first videos which showed closeups of the carnage after the truck had passed. As soon as I realised I stopped the vid, but even then those images will stay with me forever like the Berg beheading.
If showing these horrid images on tv for all to see would save western civilization I guess that would be a good thing.
Horrible.
