Other than that Ms. Nesbitt-Comaskey, how was the shopping trip?

Sounds like a variation on the story (not confirmed) of the reporter on his first day on the job when JFK was assassinated in Dallas, he unexpectedly found himself next to Jackie Kennedy who was trying to be helpful to the reporters as best she could, and when she turned to him to ask if he had any questions she could answer, he reportedly said "well Mrs. Kennedy, except for that, how was the parade?"

My former radio station manager insists the story is true, as for me?

Not so sure, but crazier things have happened.

The JFK story is as made up as the one attributed to Mrs. Lincoln, where the joke comes from. “Other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?”
