Sounds like the Taliban and ISIS destroying ancient treasures. Let's hope others at Yale mimic him and destroy other such artifacts at Yale.

Menafee then dashed to the campus library where he pulled to the floor the entire 30-volume set of Encyclopedia Britannia, doused the pile with lighter fluid, and set it on fire.
He was heard to say...”History is racist and shouldn’t exist.”

Yankees need to know that most slave-traders were from the North, and the proceeds of slave-trading, slave-harvested cotton, and New England mills that depended on this cotton helped fund the building of Harvard, Yale, Brown, etc.!!!!
They also need to know about such figures as John C Calhoun—both the good and the bad aspects of their lives!
Then they could stop hating on Southrons and Southwesterners. We’re all Americans—even if some of us identify with the Confederacy!
Millennials need to lose the concepts of “triggering” and “microaggression”,look their true history in the eye, and prepare to graduate from university as ADULTS-
-which they in fact are!!!!

In return, the college is not seeking compensation for the destruction and has requested that Menafee not be prosecuted. Not holding him to account . . . that'll show him!

He should pay to replace it. Take it out of his wages.
Replace it with a commissioned artists rendering of a black guy standing on a table breaking a window in stain glass.

Story get more idiotic. A throwaway line in the original article expanded here.

I suggest they replace the offending windows with scenes depicting Pokemon Go monsters. Then when this fad passes put in new windows showing the flavor of the moment. Who needs history.
BTW I can find nothing on the history of these windows. Could some black craftsmen have made them?

What is more valuable to Yale: a stained-glass window of enslaved people picking cotton, or the humanity of the African-American people who work at Yale?"Oh! Oh! Oh! The humanity"

it’s 2016 ... slavery still exists around the world. Real live slavery ... but I doubt the worst of it is in New Haven.

I took a broomstick, and it was kind of high, and I climbed up and reached up and broke it, he told the New Haven Independent. Its 2016, I shouldnt have to come to work and see things like that. So quit.
The window was a piece of art. But because this mans fragile little mind was upset he felt it his right to destroy the window. This man was never a slave, has likely never known or even met a slave.
Given the mans age he has never even experienced Jim Crowe segregation so what does he have to be upset about?
The man should be held responsible for his actions. Anything else is the soft bigotry of low expectations.
