Unionized military in Europe is nothing new. In the 1970’s the Dutch army was infamous for its hairnets.
Germany is far more divided socially than it appears. The old joke has it,
“Germans don’t like the French, Germans don’t like the British, Germans don’t like the Poles, Germans don’t like the Swedes.”
“In fact, Germans don’t like each other.”
In the factory, the foreman asks the workers to do a dangerous job, and the union shop steward objects and tells the guys not to do the job because its unsafe.
So how does this shake out on a battlefield?
