DS9 was one of my favorites too. Covered topics about economics, religion, etc., that were ongoing on the station.
DS9 began with a stable of interesting personalities and plot set ups, but, before those were exhausted, new ones were added based on ongoing conflicts from the outside, with many episodes even taking place away from the station. The show runners and script writers did a good job of keeping DS9 fresh and evolving.
