There’s a lot of false prophecy these days.
Bingo.
In Matthew 7:15-23, Christ spends a lot of time talking about false prophets. Many don’t realize that verses 21-23 are continuing that condemnation of false prophets.
There’s nothing inherently wrong with casting out demons in Christ’s name and there’s nothing inherently wrong with doing wonderful works in Christ’s name. But there’s something profoundly wrong with falsely prophesying in Christ’s name. In fact, in verse 23, Christ promises hellfire to those who unrepentantly do so, because false prophets call God a liar, claiming He didn’t say something He said, and claiming He said something He didn’t say. Christ also alludes to this when, in verse 21, He mentions that just because one calls Him Lord doesn’t mean they will enter into heaven, only those who do the Father’s will. It’s not doing the Father’s will to call Him a liar.
What’s sad is false prophets (like Carter) are obviously deluded about the state of their souls. They’ll try to argue their case at judgment, and Christ will say “I never at any time knew you, depart from me you worker of wickedness.” And then they’ll be cast into hell.
