Friends it's Sunday night again and time to relax. Warm up the tubes for another 4 hours of classic radio Americana.
Info *tonight's show will be available at the "Info" link starting tomorrow.
Official OTR Blog of "The Big Broadcast" thread:
Longtime radio personality and The Big Broadcast host Ed Walker passed away early on Oct. 26 at age 83. We invite you to leave your thoughts and remembrances.
Ed Walker spent 65 years on the radio. His last program was unlike any other.
Happy Sunday Afternoon all! I’ve got a family dinner so I’ll be back later in the show. I didn’t get a chance to listen to all of last week’s show but I didn’t hear Murray act over the top. The intro to GS was more about a lead into the story and not an advisory of gun violence. I didn’t hear any advisory on JD. Let me know if I missed something...
Interesting lineup...I like Burns and Allen and won’t mention DN...Never heard of the Adventures of Maisie, seems interesting...The Adventures of Superman is a low point IMO as it’s for children...X Minus One is classic scifi if you’re into it (they often call robots, robits)...and ending with a Lux, more scifi...
A beautiful weekend in the mid Atlantic...
Hi, Vision! Enjoy your dinner. I just now got your earlier FReepmail about hosting the thread. I’m here now, although I didn’t work up the synopsis list. I don’t like the new host, and I don’t think I’m going to end up liking him and the way he has transformed the tradition of the three intro programs. But, we’re still here, for now, anyway.
By the way, when I say “I don’t like the new host,” I don’t mean I dislike him personally. I don’t know him, and I would guess he’s probably a nice guy. I mean that I don’t like the way he’s handling the show and the PC crap he’s injecting into it.
I love George and Gracie. It was a sad day for comedy when she retired!
George Burns: “I did have a terrific talent. And I was married to her for 38 years!”
Hey, thanks, I’m listening in the car.
There’s not much happening, Vision. We’re listening to Gunsmoke and wishing for Dragnet and avoiding hearing what Murray has to say—a reflex action.
I listened to Murray talk about the saxophone. What he said was good, and this song is good.
Nice effort at deflection.
It's clear you harbor great personal animosity toward him and wish him all manner of harm.
You are a vindictive and evil person.
And, then he turns right around and blows it with his stupid PC crap on this Maisie show. I’m about done with this guy and his ruining of the Big Broadcast.
You may have a very good point there, Gunner. I may be sugarcoating my disdain, and that’s not very honest of me.

GADS! It’s been a long time since I’ve double-posted on Free Republic! So, I said it twice! Maybe I really, really meant it.
The show’s still good.
Right! And besides that, he apparently thinks the “violence” of these shows is somehow “worse” than what kids routinely watch today—or even in the past 30 years! Hint, though: Kids aren’t listening to this show.
He’s a “snowflake,” and he doesn’t seem to realize that faithful listeners to this show ARE NOT “snowflakes.” Our nation has been turned over to rule by people with reprobate minds—PERIOD.
Froodian slips.
