Cruz Shakes Up Senate Office, Expands Political Operation
National Review ^ | Eliana Johnson & Tim Alberta

Posted on 07/06/2016 2:51:53 PM PDT by Stalwart

Ted Cruz has been conspicuously silent since his return to Capitol Hill from the campaign trail, but the gears, as always, are turning. Behind closed doors Cruz has been supervising the vast expansion of his electoral enterprise, integrating the operations of his campaign team — policy, political, financial — in an effort to harness his newfound national following with an eye on 2020.

Central to these plans is the creation of two new affiliated nonprofits, their names to be announced in the coming days, which will effectively keep Cruz’s political machinery humming over the next four years. These groups, one a 501(c)3 and the other a 501(c)4, will be responsible for everything from championing Cruz’s legislative priorities to maintaining his donor database and coordinating his early-state travel. They will be an outgrowth of Cruz’s existing campaign apparatus, the nucleus of which has remained active in the aftermath of his departure from the race on May 3.

And his voice, his manner, and his rigid debating style will do him in again. Unless, of course, he learns and changes. But when do pols ever change??

Too bad TED isn’t taking charm lessons.

What newfound national following?! Lyn’ Ted burned through that by reneging on supporting Trump, on scheming with delegates and the convention, on his so many lies. He is nothing but an embarrassment. Let him wallow with Beck and Fiorina. What a loser.

ROFLMAO!!! Well 2020 isn't here yet, and with Trump in the Oval Office for 4 years already by then, little cruz cry baby isn't going to have to worry about it...

America will be going along nicely and people are going to be happy and if there is a chance, a very, very, very, slim chance that ‘herself’ is in there, there won't be a POTUS to worry about, it will be a ‘dictatorship’ which cruz cry baby knows nothing about...

No constitution for him to spout, no office to run for, no Senate, no House, no government offices...so all his best laid plans for mice and men are going up in smoke no matter which way it goes...

The Cruz/Ryan strategy is to implicitly support Hillary 2016 under the delusional notion that there will be a country left for them to govern as President should she win 4/8 years of the Presidency.

Of course, they many not be delusional at all about a country being left after a Hillary Presidency, but simply not care that it being gone, just so long as they get to wear the crown themselves for a little while, even if the crown no longer means anything.

I had some faint hopes that Cruz would be the VP.candidate, but now, I sort of doubt it. The campaign was very wounding to the 16 GOP who lost their bids. Some still haven’t gotten over it. Some never do, look at poor Mitt, stuck in permanent ‘pre-campaign season’ mode. I get the impression both Ted and Heidi have learned a lot from the campaign.
Some lessons sweet, others coated in bitterness.
I don’t think he is emotionally ready to even consider endorsing Donald, let alone joining the ticket. Not now, not yet.

However, if Donald’s first choice falters greatly or has some
Nanny-Gate problem and bail out, Ted may be ready for his close up by Labor Day. Wasn’t it close to Labor Day in 2008 when John McCain rocked everybody’s world by introducing us to Sarah Palin? So yes, things could change a great deal before the end of September.

Why would Trump pick a person like Cruz who has refused to endorse Trump, but instead has broken his word of honor by refusing to honor the endorsement pledge made by all 17 candidates?

And Teddy wants to speak at the convention. Does he call Trump and ask for permission? Like to be a fly on the wall when that phone call is picked up.
