I don’t know, but I do know that for debates, the Republicans & Democrats jointly own the property so they can kick out any Candidates that they don’t like. Learned that the hard way when they arrested the Libertarian Candidate on the ticket in all 50 States. Looked closer, and holy monkey. Not only did they own the property. They owned it jointly with the DNC. Which means there is in fact one party.
Apologies, my meds have yet to kick in this morning.
It’s not just about Cleveland proper. There are lots of connected suburbs between Cleveland and Akron that are critical. The burbs around Columbus and Cinci aren’t even close to the burbs around Cleveland.
Think: Solon, Twinsburg, Hudson, Mentor, Lakewood, Strongsville, North Ridgeville, Willoughby, etc. We all call ourselves “Clevelanders” as far south as Akron.
Holding a convention in “Northeast Ohio” would be a better way to put it. With Ohio being a swing state, targeting Northeast Ohio is a very smart move.
Maybe it’s so when the rioting & mayhem & #blacklives & #occupy all break out, the Republicans can point to it all & say, “If we lose, these people will take over the country, is that what you want?”
i think Colorado Springs could. it’s reasonably “red” here in El Paso county (although it’s getting a bit more purple as more fags and libtards from CA, IL, and NY continue to move here). still, it’s about 60%-40% republican to democRAT i’d guess.
there’s open carry here too! :)
good post. very insightful.
Looking at the biggest cities in America, where would Phoenix rate among the top 10 in terms of being conservative?
Here is the list, in terms of size:
1. New York, New York (8,200,000)
2. Los Angeles, California (3,800,000)
3. Chicago, Illinois (2,700,000)
4. Houston, Texas (2,100,000)
5. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (1,500,000)
6. Phoenix, Arizona (1,500,000)
7. San Antonio, Texas (1,400,000)
8. San Diego, California (1,300,000)
9. Dallas, Texas (1,200,000)
10. San Jose, California (1,000,000)
In 2012, Maricopa County voted for Romney with 55% of the vote. Every other city on this list, including the three from Texas, voted for Obama.
Phoenix is the most conservative of the top ten cities in the U.S.
Liberal cities have better hookers?
Well roving bands of feral youths are going to burn down whatever venue they have it in no matter what. So why not have liberals burn down liberal businesses
Texas???? For God’s sake we win Texas right now. Why on Earth would we pick Texas? As far as picking a small conservative community? They can’t afford it. It will cost Cleveland a ton of money to have the convention. Conservative cities can’t afford the expense.
I’ll grant you that Tampa was certainly the least liberal city to hold a convention in modern political era.
Hey, here’s an idea: Read the article before you question it!
>> Very few areas can host 50,000 people, which is the number that attend a national political convention. <<
Nonsense. I listed several cities which were bigger than New Orleans or Cleveland.
Don’t live around here do you?
Ranking conservative by the size list, I would put Phoenix just about where they are on the list. Between Philadelphia and San Antonio.
By the way, Maricopa County ain’t just Phoenix.
Maricopa County is conservative with a liberal cesspool called Phoenix in the middle. Do you seriously think Joe Arpaio could be elected dogcatcher in Phoenix, much less Sheriff? Five times? Not hardly.
Yes, I’m wondering if Cleveland is going to have all the construction projects that were promised completed. Public Square downtown isn’t finished as far as I know. Cleveland does have many more restaurants than other cities in Ohio.
>> Very few areas can host 50,000 people, which is the number that attend a national political convention. <<
Here’s how utterly full of crap you are:
Oklahoma City Arena has a capacity of 20,000 people, larger than the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland. And it’s immediately adjacent to Cox Convention Center, which hosts another 13,000 people. Tulsa also has a larger arena, BOK Center, which continually won “Venue of the Year” by Pollstar six times straight (2009-2015). So even if it were in Oklahoma, Cleveland would still finish third in best convention centers/arenas in the state.
>> “Cheer up: Texas will be a swing state in 2020 and the convention can be held in Ft. Worth.” <<
Is that you, Wendy Davis?
What ever makes you think that hosting a convention helps win swing states? Democrats took a majority in the Tampa metro area for the first time since 1976. (Tampa itself normally votes Democratic.) Do you think a Leftist nutjob police chief letting the revolutionary mobs run wild over the convention will help the Republicans’ image? Do you think that the locals will be so thankful for attracting the riots, even in the long odds that they blame the rioters, not the “provokers?”
Think Dayton, Covington, etc. When I noted that Cincinnati had a larger metro area — and it does —, I was using a source that counted Dayton as a separate metro area. If you include Akron, however, you have to include Dayton.
Fort Worth would be a good site. It has a big convention center that is right next to downtown, and there’s plenty of parking.
You haven’t been to a real liberal city if you bash on Phoenix for being liberal. Yes, it’s much more liberal than the suburbs — as are all cities. I’m sure you think Mayor Greg Stanton is a fire-haired radical. But Phoenix is NOT New Orleans or Cleveland or Austin or even Houston, let alone Boston or Washington or Arlington, VA.
