The fact that the Justice Department didn’t object to several key witnesses using the same attorney (http://politi.co/1Rto6yR) is suggestive either that those involved have no fear of culpability, that Justice isn’t playing hardball, or some combination thereof.
That the President has scheduled campaign trips on Air Force One for Clinton is a clear sign that an Indictment is not forthcoming or that the issue will be reduced to misdemeanor charges that can be swept under the rug. I’m betting the former.
If the Republicans had any guts, they would retroactively impeach Clinton from her Secretary of State job, convict her in the Senate, and disqualify her from “again holding an office of public trust.” Some Democrats might actually go along with that plan, at this point.
I agree. Either she totally skates or she pays a token fine a’la Sandy Berger. Comey was Deputy Attorney General in the Berger case. He talked a big game about how seriously the government took national security and the handling of classified documents, but in the end Berger got a slap on the wrist.
