Since the success of UK's Brexit referendum #Texit has spiked like the proverbial hockey stick in Twitter. Thousands of tweets have commanded Texas Governor Abbot's attention who is presumably crafting a response. He has, along with former Gov. Rick Perry, mulled over the idea of secession in the past.

Texas' $1.6 trillion economy, would put it in the top ten of the world's economies. Texas was an independent republic,1836-1845, with a democratically elected government, Sam Houston as its President. Should it not have the same legitimacy to leave the USA, as the UK's choice to leave the EU via referendum?

This stuff is sheer silliness. Not only will there be no “Texit”, there will be no referendum on “Texit”. Not only will there be no referendum on “Texit”, there won’t be serious consideration of a “Texit” referendum by the Texas legislature.
