What Obama wanted to say:
Yesterday, June 12, 2016 - a date which will fundamentally transform your country - the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by one radical terrorist pledged to ISIS.
The United States has tried to make peace with that Islamic state and, at the solicitation of ISIS, was still sending weapons and money to ISIS and its leader looking toward the maintenance of peace in the Levant.
Indeed, one hour after ISIS had commenced shooting in Orlando, ISIS emailed to the former Secretary of State a formal request for more hard currency and sophisticated weapons. While this request stated that it seemed useless to continue the existing diplomatic negotiations, it contained no threat or hint of armed attack.
It will be recorded that the attacker’s repeated visits to my personal favorite gay bar make it obvious that the attack was deliberately planned many days or even weeks ago. During the intervening time, ISIS has deliberately sought to deceive the United States by false statements and expressions of hope for continued peace with our submission.
The attack yesterday on Orlando has caused severe damage to gay and Latino night life. Very many American lives have been lost. In addition, American bars have been reported doing slower business in many gay night spots.
Further, the ISIS leadership also launched a stabbing attack against a French police officer and his companion.
In May, ISIS launched four car bombings in Baghdad.
In March, ISIS leadership launched suicide bomb attacks against a Belgian airport and metro station.
In December, ISIS leadership launched attacks against a Christmas party in San Bernardino.
ISIS has, therefore, undertaken a surprise offensive extending throughout the West. The facts of this year speak for themselves. The people of the United States have already formed their opinions and well understand the implications to the very life and safety of our nation.
As commander in chief of the Army and Navy, I have directed that all measures be taken to celebrate Ramadan Iftar and honor Islam.
Always will we remember the character of the Religion of Peace.
No matter how long it may take us to overcome the potential anti-Muslim backlash, the American people in their righteous collective white guilt will submit to Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
I believe I interpret the will of the Congress and of the people when I assert that we will not only defend diversity to the uttermost, but will make very certain that American exceptionalism shall never rise again.
Hostilities exist. There is no blinking at the fact that that your people, your territory, and your interests are in grave danger.
With no confidence in your armed forces - with the unbounding determination of my people - Islam will gain the inevitable triumph - so help me Allah.
I ask that the Congress declare that since the unnecessarily provoked and fully justified attack by ISIS on Sunday, June 12, a state of surrender now exists by the United States to the Islamic State.
